Olive Young - Skin Analysis

Arrived 10min before opening time - there was already a queue at the entrance. Doors opened at 10am sharp and we were ushered to come in but there was no direction on where to go so we just followed the line. Basically, you go to 2nd floor if you want to do color analysis and 3rd floor for the skin analysis. We wanted to do the color analysis but we didn't reach the day's cutoff - I think the only accept around 10-15 people - so we just followed the people and went to the 3rd floor. Upon reaching the skin analysis section, there's going to be another queue to scan the QR in the Catch Table app to enter the official queue. I was 20th in line (you have to go back if you're 3rd in the queue). I did my session at around 2:30pm. They use a device to scan your skin (they have a make-up remover so they'll ask you to remove your makeup or sunscreen for the scan to be accurate). After the can, they explain your skin condition and recommend a list of products you can use (they'll also tell you what ingredients to look for if you don't want to follow their recommendation). They are very approachable in general but expect the whole consultation to last around 15-20min.

Roam around

There's a lot of cosmetic shops, pharmacy and cafes in the area. There seems to be a lot of events/promotions ongoing in the weekends - there's queues all around. To try next: donut shop and bakery across yumseum

Tokino Cafe

Hole in the wall. The pastries and coffee were good. Saw a lot of locals take out breads/cakes so one of our good finds.

Memories

There are a loooot of pharmacies in Busan, but they’re quite different from the ones you’ll find in Seoul. Most pharmacies are focused primarily on medicines and healthcare products, rather than being a browse-and-shop experience. Even when they carry skincare products, you’ll usually need to ask the pharmacist for them instead of being able to walk around and browse the shelves like you can in Seoul. We also couldn't find a one-stop shops for Korean snacks. Unlike Seoul, where it’s easy to find stores packed with snacks, cosmetics, and tourist souvenirs, Busan doesn’t seem to have as many. The main souvenir shop we came across was around Nampo-dong (a ₩10,000 shop) but they mostly sell general Korea-themed merchandise.

The sun rises around 5-6am and sets around 8-9pm. Set your expectations if you want to see the night view as shops/restaurants also usually close around 9pm. We wanted to catch the night views at a few places, so we usually went later in the evening for those. The trade-off was that we didn't have much options for dinner, and we had to do re-visit an area to catch the sunset/night view.

- Get breakfast from Godshott then walk to Haedong Yonggungsa Temple from there. - Lotte World, Skyline Luge, Lotte Outlets are in one area near the temple. It seems to be a good place to stay as well for families with children. There's a lot of activities in the area.
